I have the kernel loaded fine but cant figure out what i need to do with the apk??

maybe its on my end. Can you tell me the process of the download. i am trying to download it from my laptop. when i click the apk link on any of the forums i get application not found. should i be trying to save the file not opening it on the download?? should i be loadig in recovery? its not...
