Not exactly sure what model you have but most devices have a reset hole that you press with a paper clip, you can locate the hole and try a reset. This can cause loss of data so hopefully you have this backed up. On say the Smart 10 the reset hole is located under the microSD slot on the bottom...

Just picked up the Asus MeMo Smart 10 yesterday and noticed it only had 4.1.1 JB:p, well 5 minutes ago it just said another system update and now at 4.2.1 , nice!
