    open Calendar App, phone menu (left of home button), select "settings", then select "calendars", at the very bottom is: "Show Birthday Contact's Birthdays" check the box. SHould add your contacts birthdays to your calendar (NOT FACEBOOK BIRTHDAYS!!! )

    It allows you to edit event, and change the calendar to Google Calendar, then save event.
