That explains that it's something for programmers. Can users disable it, or is it needed to run whatever those programmers come up with?

This problem has annoyed me, too. I have to check every week or so to see which apps have been updated back to internal storage. Today was the first time I saw that I no longer could us the "SD" tab to readily see which apps I needed to move, so it seems to be a very recent change...probably...

I have noticed this as well. I have a Galaxy S5. It doesn't present a problem as far as I can tell, but things like that annoy the heck out of me! I seldom use the app, so I'm tempted to disable it.
