    Nexus 5X battery life

I've had a 5x for about a month now and my only disappointment is battery life. With the same use patterns, it seems no better than my (3 year old) Nexus 5. Part of the issue may be Android 7..1.1 -- I realize that there may be some power management problems with that. I also have a Nexus 6...

Nexus 5 vs 5x which is the better deal for me

I now have both a Nexus 5 and a 5x. The 5x hasn't been activated yet -- I'm waiting until my monthly plan for the N5 is about to run out to activate the 5x on project fi. I have been playing with the 5x (wi-fi only) and I do like it, particularly Android 7.1. I will miss wireless charging...

Nexus 5 vs 5x which is the better deal for me

I stated above that the Nexus 5 is no longer getting security updates. That's not quite true. Within the last week. Google pushed out an update that apparently includes the December, 2016 patches (about a month late) but the patch level is still labeled October 5, 2015 (erroneously)...

Nexus 5 won't get N, but how long will it get 6.x sec updates?

Thanks for those links. It looks like the recent update is based on the December, 2016 patches, although it's a month late and the patch level is (erroneously) labeled October 5, 2016. But any patches are better than none at all.

Nexus 5 won't get N, but how long will it get 6.x sec updates?

Thanks for that. I'm puzzled that they skipped the November update but still are doing updates. I had thought that 10/5/2016 would be the last one.

Nexus 5 won't get N, but how long will it get 6.x sec updates?

My Nexus 5 got an OTA security update today (1/5/17) -- which surprised me since I thought it wasn't going to get any more updates. But then I checked "settings>about phone>Android security patch level" -- I noticed that the date is still October 5, 2016 (unchanged). So was this a patch of...

Nexus 5 vs 5x which is the better deal for me

The $365 surprised me so I looked up the exchange rate ($365Cdn = $269US) -- so the pricing is comparable. You can get a 5x 32Gb for $249 from Google if you sign up for project Fi (no contract, just sign up.) My Nexus 5 has been a faithful companion for three years but I'm apprehensive about...

Nexus 5 vs 5x which is the better deal for me

Just so you know -- the Nexus 5 is no longer getting security updates from Google, while the 5x has almost two years of security updates left, plus it's 64 bit (vs 32 bit for the Nexus 5).

Nexus 5 won't get N, but how long will it get 6.x sec updates?

That's good news -- the update exists and the only question is when do we get it.

Nexus 5 won't get N, but how long will it get 6.x sec updates?

I'm not sure any of the November updates are out yet. I have a Nexus 6 (definitely still within the security update period) and it hasn't gotten a Nov., 2016 OTA.

They need to finally make a 64-bit Chrome for Android

Google stopped maintaining 32-bit Chrome for Linux recently. Chrome is a pretty demanding application since there's so much crap on some websites that just keeps running and running, sucking up resources. If any Android app needs to go 64-bit it's Chrome but I can see how they would balk at...

    Wireless Charging Adapter

It looks good to me. If I do decide to get a Pixel, I'd definitely spring for either this or another wireless adapter. It's not as good as having it built in but I don't want to give up wireless charging. If anybody has used this please post your impression.

    Google low end phones!

It would be nice to see a North American version of Android One (selling direct to consumers via the Google store) and I bet Google wouldn't mind doing it but the US carriers will do what they can to stop it. Unlocked phones are Kryptonite to the carriers' business model. :D

    Google low end phones!

Since the N6 was released 10/2014 and Google says they'll support (meaning security updates) for three years after release or 18 months after the last sale date in their Store (whichever comes last), the N6 should have at least one year of security updates left. It's the N5 (10/2013) that may...

(Poll) If you could change ONLY 1 thing about the Pixel, what is it?

But maybe since there are several antennas behind that glass section, there's no room for the wireless charging coil (which I think is fairly large in diameter and flat). Anyway, it's a very handy feature and I'm sorry to see it missing in the Pixel.
