Ok, thank you. So how do I do it if I root my phone? I'm not asking how to root, just how to turn of the screen light up for text messages once I am rooted.

Thank you for the responses, but I don't see any settings for doing what I want in the stock texting app, or within the android phone settings. Again, I don't want the screen to light up when I receive a text, and currently it does light up.

I have gb27 installed, using the stock text messaging app. Every time I get a text and the screen is turned off, it activates the backlight on the screen. I don't like this because it wastes battery and it also increases the chance that my screen will get unlocked when in my pocket, etc... Does...

THIS. I was in the same position as you. I got the official OTA unrooted ICS and it made my phone awful. I think there's a big misconception here that you only run into problems with ICS if you had rooted your phone. That's the problem, it's still very unclear what makes some phones work great...

Yeah, unfortunately I did get the PC application you use to reprogram the bluetooth address of the PS3 controller, but the sixaxis app on my phone can't even get to the point where it reads my phone's bluetooth address... :(

Every video that I record with this phone has awful sound quality. It's really buzzy, especially in a concert environment or similar situation. But even when not in a loud environment like that I get an incredible amount of buzz when I play back the videos, primarily on bass sounds. Any fixes...
