Another update. Standby mode battery drain. I don't remember if I had the moto assist sleep mode on before or not. I don't think I had it turned on. But with it on, I lose 2% over 8 hrs !!! Even better.

Got my moto x 3days ago. Factory reset and wipe cache last night. Have almost no additional apps except gsam, calculator and local traffic. Right now battery life seems comparable to my nexus 5, but android OS and kernel use approx same battery life as 1.5hrs of screen. No Bluetooth or location...

Your post indicates there is a way to save the list of apps and add them back selectively after factory reset. Am I interpreting this correct? If so, can you explain how you do that...
