The most common need for this arises when you are changing ringtones or notification tones. You might want to get them from media storage, or from Zedge , or some other app. Removing this simply functionality is just asinine.

Same problem. Had to switch out my Note 7 for a new one at Verizon due to the recall. Now I get nothing but a vibration accessing OK, Google. The beep is the only audible clue that the phone is ready to listen. So what is up with this? Anyone know?

This worked perfectly with QuickShortcutMaker, and eased some of my frustration with Verizon. It's just greed on their part, as if we don't pay enough for service. Thanks for the suggestion. It was easier than installing Nova.
