Never saw the issue in any of my 10droids and I use both the free and pro versions of es file explorer. Also never saw answer about how people updated it: only via the play store(like myself) or by way of the app itself?

I use es file explorer on both my nexus's and my 4 mxiii-g media boxes and have not got this problem. I also always only update via Google playstore regardless if the app asks to update itself, perhaps their servers were hacked?

There have been reports that the ribbing contacts become loosened over time. There are YouTube's showing how to put some insulation tape inside which most certainly does improve things. I still get it sometimes but a lot less than I used to.

First thing I'd do with a second hand is flash the factory image and make sure there's no software in the device which could cause any kind of problem..

Don't like phablet form factor myself either, too clumsy as a phone and too small for a tablet. If the 5x didn't have the micro c USB port I'd probably go for it but at moment it's too big a jump with all the cables and chargers and accessories (such as a microSd adapter) I already have... Love...

Cyanogen will also most likely have something developed for Android N. I definitely would get a second hand 5 it I could trust the battery wasn't about to die..

Hopefully a 7, 8 would ruin the perfect fit in my jacket and Jean pockets!
