Facebook app causing wakelocks / battery drain

hmm, okay. It's kind of useful though and I want to keep using it. Yeah I reset the refresh rate. It's just confounding we can't have these apps on our phones to be quiet except when we're using them. They are just programmed to keep sending and receiving data no matter what you set them to.

Facebook app causing wakelocks / battery drain

I've disabled all notifications in the Facebook app and the Facebook messenger app. Yet both apps, if I go to see running processes in the settings, have 3 or 4 services constantly running. For example Facebook has EventService, Mqttpushservice, BackgroundDetectionService etc and Facebook...

    Google Voice on Nexus 5

No, I mean an app that uses the VOIP service Google provides for free calling and texting to the USA with the Google Voice number. I suppose there is GrooveIP but the sound quality is just terrible with that app.

You need a longer sampling time than that, mate. Intermittent Wifi, cell reception can cause it. Also if you disconnect from the charger as soon as it hits 100% it can drop to 99 in a minute. Leave it for a while after it reaches 100%.

    Google Voice on Nexus 5

I see. I am after an app that does VOIP calling for free to the USA just like you can do through Gmail on a computer. And texting. Does any app do that?

    Google Voice on Nexus 5

Hi guys - I wanted to get Google voice on the phone, but I've been unable to install it. Play store says it's not available in my country. I have a US bank card registered for payment and a US address in my Google Wallet. Granted, I'm not physically in the country, but a simple VPN connection...

    Google Search killing the battery

No I've already tried that. Its not the hot word detection that's causing the problem. I would have that off and Google now on, but battery saving location. Auto sync on for email. Contacts and reminders but that's it. Posted via Android Central App

    Google Search killing the battery

I did, and I get great battery life. But I want to be able to use Google Now without getting horrendous battery life.

    Google search Wakelock

Hmm could be some truth to that ... low power means the "low battery" setting, where it uses WiFi?

    Google Search killing the battery

Location settings is in Battery Saving mode, if that's what you mean? I don't recall finding a power setting for the actual Google Search app...

    Google Search killing the battery

Yeah it's Google Now that is causing the issue. Google Now is pretty cool though, I want to use it and I should be able to without this problem as many other people are doing.

    Google search Wakelock

If you only uninstalled the updates, why did you need to re-install Google Search? I tried uninstalling Google Search but isn't it a native app (comes with Android) so you can't? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway on disabling Google Now the problem went away which is what I suspected - it's tied...

    Google search Wakelock

Well, I'm not sure how efficiently it runs in the background but that's beside the point. The process is needlessly keeping the phone awake when it doesn't need to be. So yeah battery life is affected quite a bit with Google search taking top or second spot on the battery consumption stats...
