Thanks guys! I took the 1st step (Safe Mode). I had to reinstall FB as it seems there was something wrong with its files. I will keep you posted in case the problems come back.

Lately (I believe since the Stagefright fix update), after around a day or so with the phone on, the icons of apps stored in the sdcard are replaced by the droid placeholder icon and the apps crash immediately after opening. The remaining card contents (photos, music) remain accessible normally...
