Wait... so you are saying the issue is the indexing service... but I should get a new SD card? How will a new card fix the indexing service having an issue with 5,500 files? Would the indexing ever stop? Like, is it frozen when the indexing is happening or is the indexing still running but...

I think its Google Music guys. I ran the card for 3 days without letting Google Music download to it. No issues. Let Google Music download my whole music collection: freezes.

The card worked great for 2 years in my galaxy s4

It happened about a week after I dumped all these files. It keeps happening, still about a month after it started. Especially if the phone is charging and the screen is off. Again I would like to say that this card worked great for 2 years with my Galaxy S4. I will try it without any files...
