Not sure why, but I have similar trouble getting "stuck" on edge. I just toggle airplane mode and it usually goes back to hspa+. I think it might be if you get off a call and the phone starts trying to use edge data. It doesn't seem to want to interrupt any transfers to make the switch. Posted...

Another vote for light manager. Great app. Works perfectly for me. I got used to this feature on custom firmware, and was happy to find it as an app. Posted via Android Central App
