re: I also have a Samsung S6 (SM-920P) running Marshmallow and the issue happens again, this time power cycle and cache wipe didn't fix it, later today will update to Nougat and run some tests.

re: 30 minutes have passed after the wiping of the cache partition, tested with Fallout Shelter and Game Dev Tycoon (closing with home button, with close all tabs, closing only the game tab, changing between games and/or apps) and no further incidents have occurred.

I had the same problem. Rebooting didn´t fix the issue but after a Power Cycle the games run properly and smooth.
