No, I did release but then went directly recovery while holding down volume. Will live with this. Thx for help.

Tried this but did not get to safe mode but rather Android recovery with a list of options from rebooting to bootloader, run graphics tests , run locals text. No idea what all of these represent. Looks like I will just live with this problem. My wife's 10 inch version does not seem to have...

Don't understand. I have no problem setting wallpaper, but it shrinks spontaneously. How would I put into safe mode?

Sorry it is the 8 in version of Tab 8. I just reset the wallpaper with the same photo and it stays that way for a couple of days and then shrinks against in landscape mode, never in portrait.

Yes. I read somewhere that it does not happen if you use one of the standard wallpaper s but have not verified this.
