Will we see CM9 on the nook color?

Yes. I ran CM9 from a SD card for a while before installing to eMMC. See the first post at [UNOFFICIAL][ICS][NIGHTLIES] CM9/ICS Nightly Builds - xda-developers for details.

    Took the plunge...installed CM9

You should be able to see the SD as a mounted drive in Windows. There is an "Android File Transfer" app for Macs.

CM7 SD CARD 16GIGS? No need to resize?..

Did you use verygreen's installer [ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards. - xda-developers? If so, there is no need to resize the partitions.

Advantage on installing CM7 in internal memory(emmc)?

With the boot manager it is also possible to have a second OS in eMMC.

Need help installing android market using a Mac

That's a bit confusing. The platform-tools folder should be contained in the android-sdk-mac_x86 folder, not the other way around.

Rooted NOOK Color or Kindle Fire (rooted?)

I ran mine with dual-boot for a few months before I decided to stick with CM7. Instructions for doing so are here. I have even seen talk of having both on internal eMMC memory but haven't tried it.

new to android, new to nook

If you want to install CM7 to eMMC (internal flash) rather than to a SD card, see [GUIDE] Install CM7.1 + Clockworkmod to EMMC - ALL NOOKS! (Updated:10/11/11) - xda-developers. Some nightlies have issues, but most work fine (including the latest, #231).

    CyanogenMod-7.1.0 is released for NC

    Did you boot into recovery?

    CyanogenMod-7.1.0 is released for NC

Either one. You need to use the latest CWR in any case. I find it easier to download with ROM manager and let it invoke CWR to backup/install.

    CyanogenMod-7.1.0 is released for NC

There was a u-boot change required, but I don't recall if it was before or after the RC was released. When I had CM7 installed on a SD card, I used the procedure in this thread. I think that upgrading with ROM Manager is only for eMMC installations, not SD card.

Also make sure you have upgraded to ClockworkMod Recovery 3.2.0.1.

8 gb mSD card with barely any space left after CM7

Yes, just resize the last partition (which may be labeled SD Card) to add the free space. It's pretty straightforward.
