Can I rename the backup files in CWM on my desktop?

I rename the files in Windows just by left clicking the name 2 or 3 times, deleting what I don't want, and typing in the info. No problems here.

Nandroid Advanced Restore (User Data Only) plus navenedrob's format utility

I have it, but there is probably a reason it was pulled.

Nandroid Advanced Restore (User Data Only) plus navenedrob's format utility

I would not recommend this method (Nandroid Advanced Restore) for switching from or to ROMs that mess with the partitions, such as the CM7 or MIUI ROMs, although MIUIWiz is fine. Also, the new GB leak and latest Nameless ROMs will probably be a problem. :'( Although I may experiment to find...

    Help with titanium back up

Glad to know some others have had success with that Nandroid restore.:) Battery life seems to be quite dependent upon which kernel you use. But the ROM must also have its effect. I got best battery life with EF ROMs and PBJ -50 kernel. PBJ -50 kernel helped MIUIWiz 1.1 ROM, but still not as...

    Help with titanium back up

Nandroid Advanced Restore (Data only) seems to only restore what was active at the time the backup was created. Not sure why this is not more popular. Maybe it is the ClockworkMod part? I think people are afraid of it, but it is pretty easy: Before adding navenedrob's total wipe method, this...

Nandroid Advanced Restore (User Data Only) plus navenedrob's format utility

I have a new preferred method of backing up, cleaning the files, flashing new ROMs and restoring my data. Flashed MIUIWiz 111 over EF 360, the whole process taking about 10 minutes altogether plus navigation and boot time. (Always create a clean Nandroid Backup (with wiped cache and Dalvik...

Flash Junkies Beware: Wipe-Flash-Restore All User Data: 17 Minutes!

Thanks for the feedback. So far it seems like the biggest loss would be anything saved in the new ROM as the builder's "User Preference" which would be overwritten by the flasher's Nandroid saved "User Preferences". For example, I lose the original "ROM" icons which have been placed at the...

Flash Junkies Beware: Wipe-Flash-Restore All User Data: 17 Minutes!

Another couple of questions that arise from this are: 1. Does "Data" really mean "User Data"? 2. Also, from the CWM backup process, what is "data data"? It gets backed up right after "data". 3. Another is: Does it make a difference if "Data" is simply left in, and the ROM flashed, or if...

Flash Junkies Beware: Wipe-Flash-Restore All User Data: 17 Minutes!

Thanks. ROM specific could definitely include personal settings applied to something in the old ROM that doesn't exist in the new ROM. I could see how that could be completely harmless, but I am still hoping to gather some more details about what and how things could go wrong. My thinking is...

Flash Junkies Beware: Wipe-Flash-Restore All User Data: 17 Minutes!

I think I want to make post #2 a list of possible issues/solutions. I will try to update if I find other issues, or if others post of known issues/solutions. 1. Lockscreens from MIUIWiz seem to not work. Pattern lockscreen remains from previous user data. Edit: Not an issue. Disable...

Flash Junkies Beware: Wipe-Flash-Restore All User Data: 17 Minutes!

Yeah, I just flashed from EB01 SC 292 to ED01 MIUIWiz after full Data, Cache, Dalvik, and voltage double wipes, and restored all my old EB01 user Data and apps over MIUIWiz, all in under 17 minutes. How? Just followed what the Devs have taught us, plus Nandroid Advanced Restore in CWM. I have...

    Trying everything, battery still sucks.

I like using all the tips, like the short LED mod, but finally broke down and bought the Naztech extended battery from Amazon.com, for only $25! Last time I looked they were out, but I recommend it. Works fine, looks fine, About twice as thick, so.feels better than before in my hand (actually...

[How To] Preparing yourself for a wipe data/factory reset in Clockwork Recovery

It seemed from what I was reading that there were some improvements in the later versions, avoiding problems under certain conditions, but I am glad I hung on to this version for amend compatibility. When I tried to install it via zip, though, it didn't seem to take. Thanks for the Odin...

[How To] Preparing yourself for a wipe data/factory reset in Clockwork Recovery

Lttlwing16, Should I start another thread, rather than semi-hyjack this one? It is definitely related, but may get in the way. Let me know. Anyway, times_infinity had a comment over in XDA: "Wiping data and dalvik cache is kinda pointless because it gets overwritten and replaced by the...

[How To] Preparing yourself for a wipe data/factory reset in Clockwork Recovery

Correct. I restored the data from my latest (earlier today) Nandroid backup, made while running full ED01 with the EF 3.5.1. On top of the SC 2.9.2. Now I did wipe cache and Dalvik before making the backup, just in case.
