The system may say you have plenty of memory, but that memory may not Be functional. I had the misfortune of having several 32gb SD cards that appeared functional as 32gb but played up after adding more than 2gb. As a test only restore half your data and see if you system mis behaves.

Thx for the update. They do remove this settings for phones so was unsure how samsung was going to handle this option for this tablet. The restricted user option in combination with sd card ( not available nexus tablets ) is a great option for corporate market (training devices etc)

Your symptoms match bad memory chips. They report ok, but in fact not! I would say your device memory is no longer useful. I sincerely hope you have a backup and did not pay too much for this device. In the long run you are better off paying for quality and good support.
