Good guide. Airdroid can help you connect to Android from computer remotely, to manage files, apps and SMS. ONLY IF YOU CAN SIGN IN. The connection is so unstable!

I don't know about Missing Sync. I use Airdroid to send the files from my phone to Mac. If you just want to backup photos or files, it is a useful tool. But it can't sync Contacts or something else.
