    Canadian Variants Getting Updates

Nevermind. Disregard the previous question. I figured it out again. I was trying to change it in the developer options settings and you have to change it in the notification bar instead. Then it sets to default and never asks you for access permission again.

    Canadian Variants Getting Updates

Anyone know how to disable that popup every time I plug my phone into the computer about allowing access to the device? I was a able to disable it after last update but now I can't disable it. It used to just automatically open the phone on my computer but so i could look at its contents but now...

    S5 Software Update

Dang. You guys are lucky to have a carrier that cares about their their customers and provides them with these Samsung security updates when Samsung gives them to them. I haven't seen a security update since June of last year on my FIDO Samsung Galaxy S5. And even that one was only the first...

S5 Arrived with Purple Xs on Water "Damage" Sticker

I just received a new battery that I ordered directly from Verizon. It has Xs on it. The one I replaced (which was still good actually) was all white, as is the little white mark inside the phone itself. It's a Canadian Model. I'm curious why they do that, though.

Why the Galaxy S5 will not receive Nougat

The chip can, however, be updated to become compatible. To not do so seems to be nothing more than an arbitrary choice. What's interesting is that tech media relentlessly pushed the incompatibility narrative without any confirmation from the manufacturer whasoever. So everyone's like...

what are you all going to do with your s5 devices now that it won't get Nougat? (Snapdragon 801)

Re: Now that Qualcomm has jumped on the ... Right. They knew that when they decided to go into the chipset business. It's what makes the chipset business the chipset buisness. Right. That's part of being in the chipset business. Right. Part of running a chipset business is delegating...

what are you all going to do with your s5 devices now that it won't get Nougat? (Snapdragon 801)

..."Oh nos, obsolete device, so sad, too bad, but ya gotta buy a new phone :-$ " narrative/bandwagon, what are you all going to do with your s5 devices? This strategically kills official support for the S5 and provides an equally strategic excuse to officially stop providing security patches as...

Repetitive notification about turning on background data...

You know, it hasn't happened since I asked the question. It's weird. Heh. But thank you for taking the time to offer assistance. I appreciate it.

Repetitive notification about turning on background data...

....for Google Play Services. I keep getting that notification. Except that background data is already turned on. Any ideas why I keep getting it if it's already turned on? The notification gives me the option to quit or to go read this link...

Bug leaves 900 million Android devices vulnerable to attack

Seems like the author is strategically dismissive of the situation. Which I think is irresponsible and deceptive but most times when a major security flaw is found and reported, we see dismissive pieces written like this. End of the day, the security flaw exists, it's a major security flaw...

Bug leaves 900 million Android devices vulnerable to attack

Eh. I suppose that it'll be okay, provided we're all in the good graces of the NSA.

Bug leaves 900 million Android devices vulnerable to attack

Researchers have discovered a bug in the chips used in more than 900 million Android phones that, if exploited, could give attackers access to a phone's settings, apps, camera and microphone. Check Point has released an app that will scan your phone to see if it could contain the bug. Called...
