I asked the same thing on XDA. Here's what I was told. Technically different model numbers (D851TN = Black, D851WH = White). The source code that came out earlier was technically only released in the black model, and I'm guessing the support tool is hitting the same damn wall right now.

There's some talk going around that the Support Tool will only work for the Black Version of the phone right now. From Reddit and XDA "You can only use the LG Mobile Support Tool right now on the BLACK version of the phone, the white version can't even get past update recovery"

Not sure why its working for some people and not others. Took me a little trial and error before my phone was fully recognized by the Support Tool. Kept saying connecting. It wasn't till I tapped on the Media Device MTP notification when plugged in that the tool kicked in and started doing its...

Doug When you downloaded the Support Tool did you select all the right choices for the device before downloading it? I had to go thru a selection screen for my device before downloading it.

Go to Options > Upgrade Recovery. Then it will update to 20b

Haven't seen anyone one getting the OTA yet. Been checking XDA threads and here.

Make sure your drivers are up to date Jay. The tool installed another usb driver when I was using it.

Yes it is Windows only. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the OTA shows up. I just couldn't wait. This is my stock G3 and I wanted to finally update it.

Who cares if its OTA or thru the LG Support Tool? Same update. Why wait for OTA when you can download it manually from LG?

I just installed it. How's that for BS. It wasn't OTA but its still available with the LGMobile Support Tool.

Just installed the update with the LGMobile Support Tool (just google it. I can't post links). It might say you are up to date. But goto >Options >Flash Recovery. That will update you to version D85120b. Running 5.0.1 wifi calling and VoLTE both working
