My droid 4 does appear to transmit the mic sounds to the earpiece. I've never had a problem with it though. Maybe there's better noise cancellation.

bgeoghegan - you described my power button exactly. It works but only if I tend to 'lean to the left' on the button press.

One more note... I use the stock Mobile Hotspot app, did not change any settings. Whenever I tried a 3rd party wifi hotspot app, it would simply start the stock app. Also, my old dell laptop was unable to connect to this ad-hoc wifi access point but a Droid0 and Apple iTouch connected OK...
