Same here on Droid Maxx. Have tried all hints listed here with no avail. Restart does not fix. Started around 2/20/15.

So is there no way to send a smiley face to someone who does not have kit kat?

At least on my Droid Maxx, I can touch a call and bring up a screen with the date, time, length of call.
