I have the 8.9 hdx and really like it. I'm looking forward to a review of the fire TV and how it works with the fire - especially mirroring the screen.

This was pretty much my thought exactly. I've been using Solavei for almost a year. I think their previous plan was easily the best ~$50 plan out their. Their new pricing brings them more in line with T-Mobile's prepaid pricing - Solavei is $10 less/month except for the 4GB plan which makes no...
I didn't realize the hybrid radio was enough to stop the OTA. I got impatient and brave and manually updated. All seemingly went well.

I have an HD 8.9 and am very tempted to upgrade. One of the things giving me pause is I've been playing with a handwriting recognition app that replaces the keyboard. (I'm handwriting this post on my fire.)
The app is currently free at the google play store. I have no affiliation with the...
If you have friends and family who are interested, Solavei might be a solution. They are a T-Mobile MVNO that offer a recurring referral bonus. My husband and I have been using their service since January with no complaint.
I did a lot of research on this plan back in January. So I could be out of date... I believe the "new activations only" mentioned by the previous poster is correct. So if you upgrade you can't downgrade back to it. (In general with prepaid it's very easy to change plans - going back to...
