For me it seems an Software issue. Cause I experienced this error in safe mode and in total reseted system condition. The issue is reduced by 95% if I keep the "Always Display On" function on, maybe you can try this.

Got this problem too. I experienced some other fixes. For me stays the screen black if I turn off the "Screen Allways On" Option. No Resets or Safe Modes can handle this problem. If I keep the already called option on, I'm able to use my phone normaly. Hope that helps you and the support
