I had the same issue with dropped calls. I called T-mobile and explained my problem and they did a reset while I was on the phone with them. So far no problems and its been a couple months now.

Yes, the setup is correct. The car would be searching for a Bluetooth connection however the phone for some unknown reason does not automatically trigger BT. I have to manually turn on BT on the phone each time.
