I am also on KitKat and this happened only once so far yesterday (not rooted, with few apps). It looks like a software bug since after the reboot it has been working fine. I had the phone since it was first released and never had it until now.

I think these are coming from Sprint for OTA update but I already have it updated from the zip file using recovery update. I updated my profile, perhaps this will tell them that I am at 4.4.2 already.

For me the biggest improvement is the auto correction by the Samsung keyboard. This was not available for US users in 4.2 due to a law suit with Apple. You need to enable it in settings.
