Has anyone figured this out? I'm really hating these updates

Model: VS986 on Verizon No screen protector, stock system, and current OS. I just got everything onto this phone and was hoping I didn't have to reset everything.

After using an app (doesn't seem to matter which one) I'll hit the home key to return to the home screen but when I do it will just show the wall paper and no apps. It takes a few seconds for the apps/widgets to appear. This is annoying. Tried restarting, didn't help. Cleared cache and...

The auto brightness dims the screen too much when indoors/low light. Is there a way to adjust this (other than just turning it off)?

So far it's been a disappointment. I might have to switch to HTC or Samsung.

I was hoping that, similar to the s series, there would be different screen modes as well (when I asked if there were presets). It sucks that I have to get a 3rd party app to fix this. The G4 is disappointing me on a few different levels.

Same here. Only started happening with the latest update. Just like everyone else, the fixes are only band aids. The problem is still there. I really dislike this update, the appearance, and how they messed up the music player controls on the lock screen.
