    You used to have to pay for global sim cards if you lost or didn't have one, can't rememebr the price, but this might be where you confusion is coming from.

    factory reset and 3rd party terms.

    It wouldnt affect any terms or conditions you agreed to because your not deactivating the phone off of the account or changing the number or anything. and to do the hard reset its under sd card / phone storage. HTC has it in a different place than the others
