I solved this problem on my rooted Samsung Galaxy note edge SM n915 G phone by activating/defrosting the text to speech engine TTS that I had frozen. Other reasons behind the issue on samsung phones could be Multi window and full screen activation.

Plus, this works with FingerPrint.

On Lollipop 5.0.1, for whatever reason, the only secure setting config that works is: Device Setting> (Setting Table) System > automatic_unlock > (setting value) 1 for for Unlock and 0 for Lock.
