Yup, that's a great idea, will give that a go. The tech person who called back als has a huawei phone (not sure which model) with v10 of Android, she confirmed those settings are available - wondering if it's just on v9, tried to upgrade but states that I have latest version.

The best option possibly is to get a cheap 2G phone and swap out SIM cards.

Perhaps the only way around this is to use a 2G/3G only device, this works for me as I only need to make/receive calls (old fashioned I know) Nokia 3310 ?

Very likely, when called them today 1st line support were unaware, but 3rd line knew it was no longer an option straight away. I can use call divert for incoming calls but obviously outgoing is a no go, fortunately only a few months from end of contract - may be go with a basic retro phone...

Thanks for the welcome, based in UK carrier is EE. Tried safe mode but menu still the same. With this update a new icon appeared in addition to 'WiFi calling' it also has a small icon VIOP, buty again these cycle on and off every 30 seconds or so.

Haven't tried safe mode as it looks to be an OS update, contacted my Carrier who got tech involved confirming the change. This only happened after Android update recently, prior to this the menu would offer a selection 2G/3G/4G or Auto, this is not longer available at least on my version. The...
