I actually did find the shared content on FB Messenger on the web. But, there was no option to delete it there either. This tells me that this has nothing to do with my phone's behavior, it has everything to do with the fact that this content is attached to my profile and when used on my phone...

That content does not reside anywhere on the FB account on the FB site so it can't be deleted from there. I agree this might be a bug but they need to fix it.
