I'm the OP. Just wanted to specify that the blue dot showed up when facing a bright light source, like the sun, light bulbs, etc. I returned the phone (Best Buy) and didn't get a replacement. Will wait to see if it's a one-off or production line issue.

This forum's topic is about the "Tap to Speak" issue... you seem to be talking about a different issue altogether ("any time messaging is opened and a message is sent...").

I have to admit, I'm a bit surprised that it's taking this long, Google usually is quick at releasing bug fixes, are they not?

Just chiming in that I've been experiencing the same issue on my ASUS ZenFone 2 since last week. Decided today to Google the issue, glad I'm not the only one dealing with this. Uninstalled all updates to the Google app, unchecked the auto update for now. Tested, voice dictation still working...

Oh man thanks for this post, even if it's a month old. I bought my ZenFone 2 the day it was available and tried to uninstall all that ASUS stuff right away. I never bothered trying again. Now I did and removed almost all of them.

What I'm doing with all 64GB? Not worrying about how much storage I'm using is what I'm doing. ;-) Seriously, I use Google Play and download a lot of music locally for offline listening.

So if I pick a stock ringtone, when the phone rings, the normal behavior is the ringtone will ring twice then pause and then ring twice again and pause, and so on and so on. With my personalized ringtone file, it rings nonstop without pausing and it's quite annoying. Has anyone else experienced...

I thought I would have issues with having the buttons at the back as well. As it turns out, it is the best placement for them I really enjoy not accidentally pushing the buttons while holding my phone.

Had the weirdest thing happen last night with the battery. It was charged at about 85 percent, and I plugged in the power cable. About an hour later, I came back to check the phone, and the battery had actually gone down to about 75 percent. I let it go, and when I went to bed, it was down to 73...

For each of these pictures, the top one is all automatic settings, the middle one is with optimization turned off, and the bottom one is HDR. I'm running firmware 2.17.40 (received this morning). This one is much better with HDR. Between Optimization auto/off, the top one seems better to me...
