Regardless, I have the phone set up to recognize both left & right forefinger. And no, no inadvertent button pushes when handling with the right hand.

Considering swapping pixel for S7 been with the Pix for 9 days of dropped calls and call where my voice dropped but audio retained. Swapped for a second Pix and seems more of these same. Assume my next best device is S7?!?

Re: Notifications while in sleep mode Yep. Use the Moto app, which incorporates the old Assist app to control phone modes such as driving, sleeping, etc... Within, you can prohibit sounds during the hours which you have selected as "sleep" time. You can also allow "favorites" to override.
