    6.0 Marshmallow: Contacts are not being recognized in calls log and incoming calls

    Even easier work around...Go into APPS via Settings/General/Apps and Force Stop Messaging, Contacts, and Dialer Apps. After doing so, next time you run those apps they will recognize your saved contacts and you won't lose any history.
