Update: Dell has some business Chromebooks with backlit keyboards and Intel Broadwell processors that should be more affordable than the Pixel. $399 model - Intel Celeron 3205U (dual-core, 1.5GHz) - 16GB solid-state storage (not eMMC flash) - 2GB RAM - Intel HD Graphics GT1 $529 model - Intel...

    Chromebook with back-lit keyboard

Android Central reported on the Dell Chromebook 13: Dell's Chromebook 13 offers higher-end specs starting at just $399 (article link) Their source was the Official Google for Work Blog: Introducing new Chromebooks and features, engineered for work (blog link) Dell Chromebook 13 - Backlit...

    Chromebook with back-lit keyboard

François Beaufort (Google France) referenced 4 ChromeOS devices with backlit keyboards on Google+: Google+ -- It's Chrome OS Tip Day Today! May 6, 2015 (website link) The code names are: Link -- Chromebook Pixel 1 Samus -- Chromebook Pixel 2 Gandof Lulu So, we have to wait until the...

    Backlash Against Project Fi?

Do you think there will be any backlash against Project Fi? Project Fi gives more choice to consumers (though I'm not sure if the average consumer will even know it exists). Sprint and T-Mobile benefit because they are Google's carrier partners. AT&T and Verizon probably won't like Project Fi...

Well now that Textra is charging I'm going back stock/Hangouts

Some people spend their entire day texting, so paying for something like Textra would probably be a good purchase. Besides, if developers know that they can get a decent return from making apps for Android, they are more likely to develop for Android first (as opposed to iOS, for example). In...

Are you delaying purchase of the G4 in anticipation of the NEXUS 5 2015?

LG makes very good Nexus phones, so I would be interested. Do you think there is a lot of overlap between the people who would buy an LG G4 and those who would buy a Nexus phone?

    Chromebook Pixel 2

No worries! A Chromebook Pixel 2 is definitely expensive, so I wouldn't blame you for returning it. At least you got to touch it. :) Do you think it would be difficult for Google to make a lower-cost version of the Pixel? I'm trying to figure out what could be downgraded to reduce the cost...

    SD card adapters for C720

Of course, if you really want to go crazy, I guess you could just mount a hard drive to your Chromebook. ;) This video shows a MacBook, but I think the same principle would apply with a Chromebook. I haven't actually tried it out, but it looks like a good idea. Basically, you attach a hard...

Well now that Textra is charging I'm going back stock/Hangouts

Good developers deserve support. I think $0.99 is a fair price to pay for an app like Textra. We want to encourage talented people to continue making and improving apps for Android.

Cricket Pro Plan ($60/month for 10 GB)

So, who's on the Cricket Wireless Pro plan? It costs $60 per month (or $55 per month with auto pay), and you get 10 GB of data. It looks like a great plan for extremely heavy data users. If you needed even more data, I suppose you would have to go to a different carrier, especially one that...

    SD card adapters for C720

This is why the OP wants to know if anyone has actually used a half-sized adapter. No one wants to have a memory card stuck in their Chromebook. Here is an example: MiniDrive | MicroSD Adaptor | MacBook Air/Pro/Retina (Amazon link) If adapters aren't the solution, I have heard of USB drives...

    SD card adapters for C720

I would guess that the OP wants to use a memory card that will not stick out when it is inserted into the slot. In theory, a half-sized adapter with a micro SD card might do the trick. We simply don't know anyone who has actually bought one and tried it.

    Chromebook Pixel 2

So, how is the Chromebook Pixel 2? Was it everything you hoped for?

    Chromebook Pixel 2

I think Acer has something that would qualify as a mid-range Chromebook: Acer Chromebook 15 C910 (website link) You can get a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS screen with an Intel Core i5 processor if you want. The list price is $499.99.

    Chromebook Pixel 2

It's not a ridiculous purchase if you get some use out of a Chromebook Pixel. Besides, there are a lot worse ways to spend your money. ;) One issue I've heard is that it can be difficult to output the display to another monitor because the Chromebook Pixel's native screen resolution is not a...
