I would think that the Motomaker customization process would also work with other phones, otherwise what would you do with the factory and personnel when you decide to discontinue the phone.

When cable and dsl were first being installed, they were charging per computer. In order to get around it, you had to install your own router or gateway & tell the ISP you were using a Linux machine so that they would give you the information you needed to...
Since you are looking for a music player and not a phone, I suggest you look at Samsung's Android based music players. I know that BestBuy carries them.

Matt Jones is in charge of the Motorola forums. Along with his volunteer MotoXperts (moderators), they monitor all the communities (forums). Some of the engineers have been known to post comments there also.

I don't have the turquoise, but you could check at AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and/or BestBuy stores in your area. Some have Moto X Motomaker displays with most of the colors & the accents.

You can use wifi before activation of your phone and play around with different apps and other settings on the phone. Get a good feel for personalizing your Moto X. Then you can do the factory reset (which will allow you to know how it works) and actually setup your phone.
