    Did anyone keep their phone?

Keeping mine. There's nothing else out there that compares when it comes to materials and form. I've had zero issues with the software, and the camera matters very little to me. I did exchange mine for one with the new speaker grille, but I'll be hanging on to this one for the next couple of years.

    Earpiece cover came off today

Looking at that photo makes me realize that I have never had a earpiece grille on my phone. I think I'll wait a couple weeks or more before trying to exchange my phone. Hopefully they'll get their stock issues sorted out soon.

    Essential Order and Shipping Thread

Mine fell off the conveyor in Oakland, so I feel your pain. Supposed to have been delivered 23 minutes ago, but hasn't moved since 5am.

    Who’s ordered a Dbrand skin?

You mean to say that they canceled your order? I don't believe they've entirely canceled the skins, seeing they're still listed on the dbrand website as available for preorder.

    Essential Order and Shipping Thread

Ordered mine August 16, 7:24am pacific. Really hope to receive it this week, but expect it'll ship this week and arrive next Monday.

    Essential on Verizon

Again, the fact that no CDMA was provided by HTC probably effected Verizon's handling of the phone. If you don't play by their rules who knows what you'll get. Everything we've seen so far leads me to believe that Essential will be fully compatible, therefore I'd suspect that Verizon will be...

    Essential on Verizon

That's not entirely Verizon limiting it, that's really HTC causing the issue, as they didn't bother to provide CDMA channels. Essential has provided all of the channels Verizon runs, according to the specs we've seen.

The Essential Phone - Yay or Nay?

You and I. I refuse to have a case on a phone.

The Essential Phone - Yay or Nay?

I don't have that much issue with that. It's a little weird, but the reasoning makes sense. It's primary usage is for the notification bar, which I rarely look at anyway. I imagine any full screen app will turn that strip off, since it's outside the 16:9 portion of the screen, so it will...

The Essential Phone - Yay or Nay?

The difference is also the cohesive design language and better materials. The Pixel is ugly, particularly the partial glass back. Personally, I refuse to have a phone in a case and the ugliness of the Pixel's back has kept me from purchasing it, as petty as that might be. I've reserved one of...

the front camera cuts into the screen

According to the explanation given by Andy Rubin in the video posted elsewhere, the screen is a 16:10 ratio including the space around the camera. The notifications fall outside the normal 16:9 video parameters. That means most apps aren't actually going to require the space on either side of...

    HTC U11 Preorder Thread!

Presumably Verizon will sell it through their site once its actually out (not just pre-order). In the meantime, if you put the unlocked version in your cart on HTC's page it shows as running on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, MetroPCS, Alaska Communications, Cricket, NET 10, Straight Talk & WalMart...

I'm ready for a new, free Pixel phone.

    Please new update (capacitive buttons)

You're quite right. I use it to modify the general brightness too. Stock auto brightness always defaults to too bright at night. I don't enjoy being blinded when I turn on my phone, so I've set my brightness levels to negative values (zero is as low as stock will go).
