Re: it still wont do anything did you try with a different battery? if the charger was conked and if it was draining the battery, there is a good possibility it totally screwed your battery too (do a google for Negative charging.)

One choice is to replace your messaging app. Note that there is an sms size limit from the end of carrier who will charge for multiple sms if the message is long.
