Just a thought, and might not be the cause of your issue, but check that the date and time are set correctly. This can cause some types of connection issues.

Gates59, based on what you've said, I'd buy the 7.0 for 110 and then sell it for as much as I could get, then buy the 8.0. I bought the 7.0 and after a few weeks wished I had sprung for the 8.0...even though it cost about $70 more. The improved features are worth the extra...by a long shot...

On my Tab 3 7.0......Go to the Google Play Store. Then press the Menu button on the bottom left of the screen. Select Content Filtering and make your changes.

You should be able to find a T3 7 on Ebay that has a broken screen, or some other problem...cheap. Just buy one and you;ll have all kinds of spare parts. Besides, I'd suspect a new Home Key would be more expensive, if you could even find one.

Are the document's file permissions already set to Read Only on the PC (not the ones you see on the SD card)? If so, that's the issue...try changing them on the PC before transferring....but I would think you would have thought of that already.

My Tab 3 was doing this date thing for about a week. I just kept resetting it, then for no apparent reason it stayed correct. It's been fine for a month and a half now. I'd love to reveal the secret fix, but I have no clue what changed. Welcome to the wonderful world of Samsung!?!?!

I'm not a networking pro, but your router needs to be set for AES, not TKIP. That might solve the problem.

Take a look at your device's date and time. If they're wrong, correct them and it should connect just fine. This is a known problem with the Tab 3's. Not sure what causes it, but it happens from time to time.

The AES setting is on your router, not in your device.

I does sound like the original was damaged, unfortunately. May I humbly put forth some advice? Anytime you want to convert any file, no matter what type or platform, always make a copy and use the copy to do the conversions. That way you won't risk damaging the original. I learned that...

Re: screen protector? I agree with Brosko....as usual. 8-) I did try several but didn't quite like them enough to keep them on. I just really like the feel of the raw glass on my fingers. (BUT I'm extremely careful with my tablets and since loosing my job, I'm not out and about much) I do...
