Checking every couple hours between phone, Kies 3, and Smart Switch (just installed last night) where I found and checked the pre-download update option but nothing yet.

Because Verizon? Was just concerned that the ability to tether out-of-the-box without needing to Root or Unlock would be "fixed" with updates.

As someone considering purchasing a 6P to use on Verizon with grandfathered UDP, very interested in hearing if it still tethers natively after the update.

I want a Nexus 6P so I can tether natively on Verizon out-of-the-box without needing FoxFi!

If it's any consolation, today on MSNBC Morning Joe Scarborough was merciless with Verizon about his crappy coverage.

I seem to remember having a similar problem with the GNex. Can't recall if it booted up while plugged into external power with the battery removed, or if I had inserted the battery afterwards, but it did end up booting back up. Seems odd that the LED was red and not green if plugged in overnight...

A standard computer USB port puts out 500ma (half an amp), and you can find wall-chargers that range from 500ma to 2 amps+. You would need to use one that doesn't trigger the S3 switching to Charging (AC).

I am also experiencing this issue. It only occurs on 2a chargers where Settings - Battery reports Charging (AC) rather than Charging (USB) like when plugged into a lower amp USB port. One interesting thing to note is that if you power the S3 off and reboot, it will report (USB) under Battery...

Download and install went fine. PDAnet, FoxFi, and WiFi working with no reset needed. One issue though - when plugged into a 2a charger and battery settings indicate charging AC rather than USB, getting a red X on the battery icon, although it still seems to be charging either way.

PDAnet + FoxFi = under 8 bucks and works great.

Re: Galaxy S3 4.3 update questions and issues! Make sure the PDANet Windows app is up-to-date. USB should work with version 4.12.
