Yes, the phone has a SIM slot with an inactivated Vodafone card in it. I didn't want to try the SIM from my good phone, as that would need messing about with an adaptor to accept it. Also, just about to go away on holiday and didn't want to risk messing my good phone up.

Well, using Solid Explorer, I can see the file listed with no file extension, and with a blank icon. Not sure if that's any help, so I connected it to my PC and I can see it there in Download. R click - Properties reveals the file type to be "File" Does that help??
