It seems to be related to GMail 4.6 - I was getting the same random reboots whether or not I had the widget enabled, but after going to Settings > Applications and uninstalling all GMail updates, I've been able to keep the app enabled on the lock screen with no reboots. Hope 4.6 gets fixed soon...

Having the exact same issue here. I did have GMail 4.6 installed as well - just reverted to the factory default GMail version; seeing if that fixes the problem. Has been the only problem with an otherwise excellent phone.
