    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

I may have figured out why MMS isn't working. When I got the new memory card I put it into the phone (a 2.3.3 build with MMS nonfunctional), then I copy/pasted my old memory card to the new one via my computer. After that it was a Ti Backup, then the new ROM (yes, I did all the wiping except for...

    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

I didn't want to call Virgin until I tried everything I could on my end. I'm trying to find out the complete APN settings to try punching in with APN Manager, but after that calling Virgin is my last resort. In the back of my mind I'm worried that they'd somehow poll my phone and find out I'm...

    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

Tried the area code change and still no dice. I'm using handcent btw... I have it sent to auto-download MMS messages, but it still just shows a "download" box in the person's dialog which changes to a little grey "downloading" after I click it... about 10 minutes later the download clicker comes...

I can't receive OR send them; still an area code issue?

Well I went with the Mirage CM7.2. The camera is MUCH improved over what I had, battery life is improved, and there's less lag all around. I still can't get MMS to work, but that's no different than the last couple years so oh well. CAI is next on my "To Do" list.

Fixing Virgin MMS for ported roms

Hi leslie; I'm using APN manager pro to alter my APN settings according to this: Which is something I'd found you wrote over at phandroid, but it doesn't look like that's all the fields - is port (and all the ones not mentioned) supposed to be left blank? My MNC was/is at 00. Also, I don't...

T-Minus a few hours My SD card came in the mail yesterday, so in a bit I'm going full-on geekmode and getting everything set up. It's still a tossup between CAI and Mirage's GB... I'd like to know for sure whether or not bobZhome's camera tweeks for the Optimus V are in Mirage's ROM, or if they...

Non-Virgin phones on Virgin Mobile service

Yeah, Virgin already told me what Virgin is going to tell me. Having service potentially cancelled isn't all that intimidating as I'm sure that for $35/mo it would start up again :D I never ever go to the Sprint store; does the OTA capability exist to determine if a phone is flashed? I mean...

The more I look into CAI the more questions I have about it. Specifically, since I'm wandering about with an antiquated ZV4 do I have to change it to ZVD? Is there a comprehensive guide for getting CAI on a VM670? Everything I've found specifically regarding the OV and CAI refers to Quattrimus...

    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

I will be glad to give it a shot, do you have an Optimus V-related link? found it under the name Quattrimus ICS. According to getquattrimus.com there are still a number of issues with no workarounds. That said, I'd like a GB rom I know I'll be happy with and can fall back on if CM9 CAI doesn't...

    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

Thanks for the replies! I greatly appreciate the time you guys/gals are taking to help me out. I'm fairly certain I want to stick with GB until the ICS and JB stuff is equally polished. Also, I should be getting a 32 gig memory card in the next few days to replace this 6 year old 8 gig card I'm...

    18 Months Later - Rehacking the V

When I got my Optimus V in 2011 it was my first smartphone. I put on AOSPCMOD-OV-20110427 (2.3.3 GB) within 4 hours of bringing it home. Sadly, I've been utterly remiss in keeping up-to-date on anything regarding cell phones; over the past year and a half I've come to realize that my smartphone...

Unlocking your smartphone will soon be illegal, and other DMCA new rule insanity

I sincerely doubt this is going to stop any current hackers so much as it's going to POSSIBLY prevent a small portion of newbies from giving it a go. PLENTY of things are illegal and people still do them anyway. Until modded phones scream "I'VE BEEN HACKED" every 5 minutes and call attention to...

Non-Virgin phones on Virgin Mobile service

I've done a bunch of searches all over the internet to try and find anything on this. A lot of people seem to talk about trying it but then are never heard from again. Is there a consensus as to whether or not using a non-Virgin Mobile phone with Virgin Mobile service is ACTUALLY possible? I...
