When I updated I lost my root access so do I just need to root my device the same as I did last time to get my root access back

Does this mean I have lost my root access will I have to re-root my device and mean I will lose all my data

I keep getting the message luck patcher has been granted superuser permissions and then 60 seconds or so later it says it has been denied I unlocked and rooted my nexius 7 a while ago and I applied the new update to the os last night which I think might have caused the problem how can I fix this...
