I did the same thing and the U.S. version is definitely smoother and more stable. There is a noticeable difference in that area, but you will probably lose your homescreen setup if you switch. I did an FDR, but maybe it doesn't apply to others who have switched.

I did a factory default reset and it loaded after the reset. After I reset it, ICS came up automatically, so it was really neither option. I live in Illinois, FWIW.

I did and I didn't know how to get the U.S. version, so I did a factory default reset. After the reset, it loaded ICS on its own. I don't think it will be of much help to you, but the U.S. version seems to run better than the U.K. did.

I'm not sure that there are any real differences. Your Tab should work fine with either.

I've never had problems with Netflix, but after flashing the official ICS build, it's stopped working properly. The videos start off fine, but then the video freezes and the audio continues as normal. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

It's for the U.K., but you can flash it on your U.S. Tab and it should work fine. I've never rooted before, but opted to do that and I haven't encountered any real problems. Everything, including the camera, works as intended.

The 7.7 version in Austria and Germany have begun receiving their update, so we can only hope that the 10.1 Wifi American update isn't too far behind.
