I gave up after 2 tries. The store manager offered to let me exchange it for a third time, but I decided not to risk it and went with a Droid Maxx instead. I would have preferred to have the G2, I loved everything else about it, but I need a phone with decent call quality.

Very interesting. It looks like that may be the case here. I'm on my second G2 and the new one has the screeching issue as well.

Picked up the phone today and love everything about it except the call quality. It is absolutely horrible on my phone. I've made several calls and there was noticeable distortion on all of them. This is a deal breaker for me and the phone is definitely going back, but I'm hesitant to try...

Have you turned off iMessage as well?
