I was reminded of this when benchmarking a website, so I tested the site again.. much better loading times (12.5s), still a crazy number of web requests (492) WebPagetest Test Result - San Francisco :...les-new-chromecasts - 10/01/15 18:53:19

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

Problem: my minivan won't go very fast because it's packed with stuff and towing a huge trailer full of really heavy things. Solution: don't lighten the load, fit a bigger engine to drag all that stuff along faster.

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

wondered why the desktop site is laggy too? My laptop is a fairly decent spec, and can download and render most web pages in the blink of an eye, clearly spends time downloading and rendering Android Central. Since AC seem disinterested in doing any analysis, I ran one for you... here's a...

I've now subscribed to Android Authority RSS, haven't dropped AC yet as it's got great coverage but is now my secondary news source in case AA miss something.

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

The forums are slow to load too, but once the page has loaded it's fine. I've noticed on the regular news pages that the load on my phone is sufficient to even slow down the Swype keyboard! Like I said, using Sony Xperia Z Ultra, 4.4.4, and Google chrome browser. Wi-Fi connection is uncontested...

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

p.s. the page is slow even when I am on wifi at home, which is an uncongested 802.11a/n wifi connection sync'ing at over 100Mb/s, with a 36Mb/s connection to the internet. There's no point in trying to load the page when I am on 3G (don't have LTE) even when it's getting 4 to 8 Mb/s!

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

problem hasn't got any better since I first reported it... using Sony Xperia Z Ultra, 4.4.4. Most sites render just fine, but Android Central is just terrible. You try and scroll but nothing happens. When you click back to close the page, the phone will hang briefly as all the RAM gets freed...

web page kills my phone, big hurt of lag

I read android central using rss reader on my phone, Xperia Z Ultra. When I want to read the full article, I click the link and web page loads up in chrome browser and the phone grinds to a halt. Scrolling becomes very stuttery, menus stop working for quite a while. It doesn't matter if I wait...
