How to set a picture with a contact on zte merit

I have a zte merit straight talk phone and have had it about 3 weeks and now when i turn it off or when it comes back on the blue tracfone screen goes crazy and blinks on and off it also does it when i go into my picture gallery the screen goes crazy but everything else works fine any ideas what...
