My phone just bit the dust via the reboot loop yesterday. Really was a bummer. Had to go out to Best Buy and pick up a cheap phone until the replacement comes (hopefully within the return period of this phone). One good thing is that Google's customer service was really easy to deal with.

The lag is definitely real, there is a 9 page post just above this one currently with people detailing their issues. I have been an avid android user since I purchased my Nexus One in 2010 and out of all the phones I have had this is the only one to lag like it does. Does it always lag? Nope...

I would look to upgrade to the 6p rather then the 5x. The lag issues that plague the 5x will make you regret your decision should you "upgrade" to it.

Just dim the screen. I usually dim mine to about 1/4 of the brightness, plenty easy to read and the battery should level off or charge up.

re: I had a lot of lag before the last update, now it runs pretty smoothly with only minor lag here and there.

I thought about doing that but the used market is pretty good right now and rather save the money. I have played with an N5 and had no issues with it. Having said that, playing with a phone and owning it is two different things.

The reason I am looking more towards the N5 rather then the N6 is due to size. Have played with larger phones in the past but I don't know if I am ready to make the jump. Thanks for the input.

I am thinking about picking up a N5 and selling my S5 and just wanted to do a sanity check. There are many things to love about the S5 such as the long battery life (25-30 hours) and the great camera, but I don't like Touchwiz and the Google Experience Launcher is like covering up the problem...

Update: I went ahead and did a fresh install on my phone. Solved the problem for a while but eventually the same issue came up. So to be clear, the above screen shot shows my phone constantly awake with and something taxing wifi. The problem being is that my wifi was off during that time...
